Getting to Prague & Our First Night
Let's Get This Vacation Started! From our house we headed together to Chicago O'Hare Friday June 10th where we made it through security in a timely manner to wait for our flight to Frankfurt.

Image of the DayOn our flight getting ready to take off for our first overseas trip in 4 years! We were so excited! That moment, the moment of finally getting under way after having our 2020 plans cancelled and 2 years of waiting, was amazing and just so soul lifting! Traveling, especially to Europe, makes my soul sing and is something I need in my life! Bon Voyage!

Pro-Tip: Arrive a minimum of one day before your tour starts. It will help you get over jet lag and give you extra time if anything goes wrong with your flights. Luckily for us, our flights from O'Hare to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to Prague went just fine.
Hotel Metamorphis ~ Prague, Czech RepublicUpon landing the next day we met up with our private driver, which we had arranged with our hotel ahead of time, to come pick us up from the Prague Airport and drive us directly to our hotel, Hotel Metamorphis in the Ungelt Courtyard. It is a renovated caravanserai - a place where foreign merchants could stay in the 12th century - and a beautiful job they did on it too. We reserved the same rooms we would have for our tour for the one night we needed before our tour started. Hanza greeted us at the front desk and was so incredibly helpful, even helping us take our bags up to our rooms.
Pro-Tip: If you have 3-4 or more people and the hotel you are heading to from the airport offers a pick up service, book it. It was a better value for the 4 of us than a taxi and much more simple than public transportation after a long day of travel. Dinner at Pivnice Stupartska
After taking a few minutes to settle into our rooms and freshen up from our long night/day of flying it was close to 7pm and some dinner was in order. Hanza to the rescue! We asked him to recommend someplace close for locals that had great Czech food and right out the back side of the courtyard was Pivnice Stupartska! It had a wonderful atmosphere filled with locals and amazing food! We had a great time eating traditional Czech food in a fun and oh so Czech atmosphere! Duck, pork, bread and potato dumplings, and sauerkraut washed down with some amazing and very refreshing Czech cider! We couldn't have asked for a better first dinner.

An Evening Walk to Stretch Our Legs!
Having checked into our hotel and had some nourishment and refreshment we now needed to stretch our legs a little after all of the sitting we had done. So, we took a little walk around the Old Town enjoying a beautiful evening on our first night in Europe. We first headed to the Old Town Square entering it next to Tyn Church. What a beautiful space! Then to the Old Town Clock, which last time we were here was covered up as it was being refurbished, so it was nice to get to see it. Over to the view of the Castle across the Vltava, and then onto Charles Bridge to enjoy the atmosphere before heading back to our hotel and some much needed sleep.
