The main market square in Krakow, Poland. One of my favorite places in Europe!
Final Thoughts
The Heart of Europe
As you can see from the photos to the right we had an absolutely amazing time seeing 'the Heart of Europe!' So much to see, do, experience, marvel at and be thankful for! We enjoyed every bit that the Heart of Europe had to offer us! We soaked it up, soaked it in, and brought it home with us. Doing this scrapbook has also been fun in that it has given me a chance to re-live all the amazing times we had during our tour! The pictures tell a story and remind us of the funny, beautiful, or interesting things that happened to us and we marvel at our good fortune even now, 8+ months later. And we were able to experience it with the rest of the wonderful members of our group and our fabulous guide, Peter. He really did a great job of making us feel welcome and prepared for our shared adventure! Thank-you Peter! |
These are a Few of Our Favorite Things!
What were some of our favorite things? Well, we really loved our time in Prague and Krakow. Those cities are amazing while being a bit more walkable with excellent history, art, food, nightlife and fun! Prague has amazing views and architecture, and the main square of Krakow was how we always ended our day when in Krakow. It is such a great base to not only see everything the city has to offer but also the surrounding area! The beauty of Matthias Church and our evening Danube cruise didn't disappoint in Budapest, and the natural wonders of Plitvice were out of this world! We loved the small town feel of Rovinj and Lake Bled, which was nice after the three big cities we enjoyed. From top to bottom, beginning to end, it was a fun and fabulous trip!

Tart Cherry Strudel We had really enjoyed our strudel while in Europe, especially the Tart Cherry Strudel we had while in Budapest. Peter would always point out the best strudel places to Brett. If you've ever been to Door County (or heard of it) WI you might know that fruits, especially cherries, flourish there. Jess and I grew up at the base of the county and our parents still live there, so when we visit in the summer and the cherries are ready the kids and I pick tart cherries and I can them. As we all loved the strudel and I had cherries ready to go I decided to try my hand at making Tart Cherry Strudel. You boil down and thicken the cherries, layer the phyllo dough (store bought, I'm not crazy enough to make my own phyllo dough) and brush with butter as you layer, put your cherries in the middle and wrap like a giant sausage roll. Make sure you get the edges well sealed and brush the top with butter after flipping the pastry onto the pan with the seam side down. Bake, let cool, and enjoy with some homemade whipped cream! It was truly delicious! If you like strudel and cherries, I would definitely recommend making this. We all gobbled it up! Not a crumb was left. |
Good-Bye!
Thanks so much for checking out my scrapbook of the RS Best of Eastern Europe or Heart of Europe tour! I hope you enjoyed learning about the tour and will maybe decide to go on this tour, or another one, yourself! As they say in Poland, 'Do Widzenia!'
