The Slovenian Flag flying at Castle Bled on Lake Bled, Slovenia.
Day 13: Rovinj to Lake Bled

Image of the DayThis is a shot from our dinner in Lake Bled under the grapevines. We ordered wine and dessert, and just really enjoyed and lingered over dinner, relaxing in our final destination of the tour - Lake Bled.

Our double room with small balcony and the castle from our room.

Hotel Lovec ~ Lake Bled, SloveniaHotel Lovec was a great hotel! It is more perpendicular to the lake than along it, but right across the road the runs around the lake, so the lakeside is really easy to get to. I leaned way out on our balcony and was able to photograph the castle from our room. The breakfast buffet had a large selection and lots of room to sit. Brett was even able to sneak in a quick dip in the hotel pool before our final group dinner.

Cafe Peglezn Our first night in Lake Bled dinner was on our own and so relaxing. We chose to sit 'outside' under the growing grape vines at Cafe Peglezn, which is one Peter had pointed out to us and is in the guidebook. It was so cozy yet bright with the sun shining through the grape leaves. It really had amazing atmosphere. I ordered the platter of grilled meats, Jess pasta, and Brett and Deb shared a pasta and the Caprese Salad. Be warned, the pastas are delicious, but they are huge! Sharing is a good idea here. We were in such a good mood we also ordered a bottle of wine to share and enjoy with our meal. And something we almost never do when dining on our own, we ordered dessert! The Tiramisu was simply divine. We didn't want to leave our little haven, and lingered quite long at our table. |
An Evening Walk Around Lake Bled
Brett and I weren't ready to head back to our room for the night so we decided to walk along some of the lake as the sun set. We headed left around the lake from Hotel Lovec to get the best views of the castle and the island (we'll go around the whole thing tomorrow). It was beautiful, and we really enjoyed strolling along enjoying the changing views.
