Tour Day 6: Travel Into Hungary & Eger
Travel Day
|
Image of the DayOur first group dinner in Peter's home country of Hungary! It was buffet/family style and was really delicious after a long day of travel. Some of us stayed later talking and finishing up the wine, which was really quite relaxing and enjoyable!

Levoca, SlovakiaWe stopped in Slovakia heading from Krakow to Eger for a mid-day travel break with lunch included in Levoca. The first thing we did was each lunch, which was delicious but more than we could eat. The food on this tour won't disappoint you! Then we were free to explore the cute little town which had a main market square, cathedral, walls to walk along etc... We wanted to stay outside and get some movement in with it being a travel day, so we headed out to walk along the walls and enjoy the friendly canine and feline residents, as well as the views.

Eger
When we arrived in Eger we did a quick group orientation before hopping back on the bus to head to our lodgings for the night on the outskirts of town. Below are the Minaret in Eger, Eger Castle, a wine festival going on in the main square and different bits of the architecture of Eger. It is a beautiful Hungarian town.

Our First Dinner in Hungary!
The Chili Paste was delicious especially in the Hungarian Goulash Soup with wine, a stew over small dumplings and stuffed peppers, and for dessert apple strudel and a type of rolled pancake topped with cream. It was all very good and very Hungarian!

We were at one long table for dinner so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to stand on a chair at one end and take a picture! Everyone was a good sport about my photo taking!
